Dancebox Studios are set to takeover a Masterclass Studio at the CYD? Super Convention this year! Ahead of the leading dance convention this October 11th and 12th, CYD? spoke to Dancebox Studios about their college and how you can audition.
MATTHEW LINECAR-BOULTON - FOUNDER AND ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Matthew Linecar-Boulton, Co-Principal and Artistic Director of Dancebox Studios & Theatre Works, is an established performer and dance teacher. Matthew has recently retired from performing after a 15-year career that included appearing in a staggering eight West End shows.
TOM LINECAR-BOULTON
Tom trained at Central School of Ballet. On graduating he joined K-Ballet Company in Japan before returning to the UK to take up a contract with English National Ballet and embark on a freelance career. Most prolifically Tom became the third of Channel 4’s Ballet Boyz (with William Trevitt and Michael Nunn), before taking on the role of Billy’s Older Self in the multi award-winning West End musical Billy Elliot.

BA (HONS) PROFESSIONAL DANCE & MUSICAL THEATRE
Our 3-year Professional Dance & Musical Theatre degree is a rigorous programme of vocational training for aspiring professional performers. This outstanding programme of study trains performers to a professional, audition-ready level through the delivery of a detailed technical training in all Dance and Musical Theatre disciplines.
The course is designed specifically for performers who want to excel in the Cruise, Cabaret and Musical Theatre industries and includes Ballet, Technical Jazz, Heels Technique, Showgirl Technique, Commercial, Latin, Lyrical, Tap, Singing (group and solo), Acting, Integrated Performance, Choreography and Health/Mental Health and Nutrition.
BA (HONS) PROFESSIONAL COMMERCIAL DANCE & PERFORMANCE
Our 3-year Commercial Dance degree program is meticulously crafted to meet the demands of the competitive Commercial Dance industry. Tailored for aspiring dance professionals, the course offers an exhaustive curriculum that focuses solely on the skills required for successful Commercial Dance employment.
The course is designed specifically for performers who want to work in the Commercial sector, including dancing for music artists, commercial film and TV work, gigs/corporate, teaching, choreography, presenting and Influencer work.
The course includes Commercial Styles (including Commercial Heels), Lyrical, Latin, Jazz, Ballet, Choreography (including for Film and TV), Socials/Presenting, Personal Branding – hair and makeup, social curation, self-tape skills, show reels, vocal reels (if applicable), Singing, Fitness, Health/Mental Health and Nutrition and project based units including Ariel, Acro, Circus Skills and Fire skills.
Students that train at Dancebox get the opportunity to perform often, and in front of large audiences, giving them valuable experience that carries into their journey within their careers and prepares them for working life as a dancer and performer. The opportunities include big stage appearances at the UK's biggest dance events, both on the main stage and on the Dancebox stand which is renowned amongst our event appearances. Students also get the opportunity to audition and appear in front of the general public at big productions on the Dancebox calendar including our Summer Show, and our famous Christmas Extravaganza.
