BA (Hons) Musical Theatre -
The BA (Hons) Musical Theatre three-year degree offers an integrated triple-threat programme designed to train performers as accomplished professionals ready for the world of performing arts.
This highly practical course provides comprehensive training in acting, singing, and dance - the essential skills for any musical theatre performer. Graduates also emerge as ‘informed practitioners’, with deep knowledge and understanding of their craft and the industry.
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts –
The Level 3 Extended Diploma, following the RSL syllabus is for students aged 16-18 who aspire to pursue a professional career in the performing arts industry. The course is delivered at Wilkes Academy’s learning site in Swindon and is led in partnership with SCL Education. Students participate in intensive practical training each week across all three disciplines: singing, acting, and dancing taught by specialists and industry professionals.
The team works tirelessly to ensure this is delivered by a distinguished faculty of leading West End performers, esteemed industry directors, world-renowned choreographers, experienced professionals, and academics - all of whom remain at the forefront of their professional careers, offering students a comprehensive understanding of their art form.

At Wilkes Academy, students regularly have opportunities to showcase their talents and apply their training in a variety of performance settings. Whether through degree modules, diploma courses, or extracurricular activities, performance remains at the core of the Wilkes Academy experience.
In addition to our curriculum-related performances, students have access to a wide range of extracurricular audition opportunities, including the Move It exhibition, Can You Dance, national pantomimes, cruise & other performance contracts and annual End of Year Show.
Applications for the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre and the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts open each year in September, with auditions taking place from November until April. Early application is strongly recommended to secure an early audition date. Students apply directly through the Wilkes Academy website and then through UCAS (if applying to the degree course).
